Śūn'ra Yatā
Antagonist | Drug Dealer | Bandit | Villain
Sun’ra is a Keeper of the Moon from an island off the coast of Meracydia. He keeps this information close to the chest, however, simply saying that he is from elsewhere, words given weight by his heavy accent which is adequately dissimilar to that of the pirates of Limsa Lominsa. While not the biggest player within the underworld of Eorzea, Sun’ra’s existence is not at all a secret. His propensity for violence and murder, his fascination of the suffering of others, as well as the curious diligence and intensity he puts into the creation of the drugs he peddles, has all managed to get his name, or at least one of his aliases, heard in whispers around dark tavern corners and seedy back alleys.
For those less evilly inclined or likely to hang around such groups, he is much less likely to be known, though perhaps they have caught rumor of a curious bard who plays just before dawn, or the part-time chef whose dishes always hold a potent kick of spices.
At first meeting, the bandit often appears friendly, disarmingly so, though there is something intensely unnerving regarding the predatory way his often constricted pupils seem to focus on his person of interest.

H O O K S
Drug Dealer: Śūn’ra is a drug dealer, and a fairly good one at that. He has his own distinct wares to offer, but will also make the effort to procure whatever a client desires beyond his normal fare. This is however, with the exception of Somnus as he refuses to deal with that particular substance in any capacity. Still, if one is looking for a quick fix, or a reliable long term supplier, he is always happy to provide.
Banditry: What Śūn’ra considers as his main “job”, is the thing he’s been doing the longest, and what he finds himself to be really good at. He has been known to take advantage of the Ala Mhigan refugees outside of Ul’dah, the Doman refugees who once made their temporary home around Mor Dhona, the various downtrodden in Gyr Abania, and generally any random, lightly armored person or persons on a dark road in and around the various housing districts. If you want to be a victim, a hero, a like-minded individual, or simply heard curious, ominous rumors of people being robbed and/or murdered in the dark, feel free to explore the possibility.
Hired Hand: As he’s generally always on the search for or considering the potential of the next thrill, Śūn’ra tends to keep his ear to the underground when it comes to offerings of various “unsavory” jobs. Whether you need an assassin, a torturer, a kidnapper, or someone to shake down those indebted to you, he’s generally up for the task. Additionally, while the Keeper himself has no grandiose plans for mass destruction, conquest, or the like, he’s more than happy to help those who do - for a price, and for as long as going along with his employer’s ambitions is more thrilling than the escapades of those attempting to put a stop to them…
Dungeon-Diving: Śūn’ra has found that he rather enjoys heading into various dungeons and ruins in search of relics to either keep for himself or to sell for overinflated prices. The threat of monsters, voidsent, and other ne'er-do-wells amuses and excites him. It is possible to run into him alone, scoping out a location for possible treasures, or to convince him to join your own expedition.
General Evil-doing: In simplest terms, Śūn’ra finds evil things to just generally be more fun than good things. He’d like to meet others of a similar mindset, and isn’t shy about tracking such individuals down if he catches wind of them.
Notepad & Writing Utensil: A small ringed notepad that is filled with notes regarding people, places, flora, fauna, and landmarks. The small scribbles are things worth remembering, ideas of future use, and various other snippets of information that may or may not be of use.
Deck of Playing Cards: A normal deck of cards that he keeps upon his person. Does not see as much use currently as they once did when his focus was confidence tricks and other short cons. Still, he will occasionally use them to pass the time, practicing card tricks, shuffling, and various sleight of hand techniques.
Lock-picking tools: An assortment of picks of various sizes that are kept neatly in a worn, leather wallet. There are few standard, non-magical locks which can stonewall his use of the items. Sometimes used as toothpicks
Linkpearls: Aside from the pearls that he uses as earring studs, Sun'ra keeps upon his person a small handful of additional pearls on private lines just in case he meets someone he cares to keep in contact with.
Cinnamon Sticks: Raw sticks of spice. Sun'ra generally keeps a couple on hand for idle chewing. While not intended for consumption, he will also sometimes just eat them.
Guitar: Affectionately named, "Queffa," Sun'ra does not always have the dark violet acoustic guitar with him, but when he does, it is generally carried with an adjustable strap upon his back for travel.
Garrote Wire: A line of razor wire, anchored on each end by metal rings. While not often employed, the bandit does sometimes make use of the strangulation device when he desires his kills to be both silent and less messy than using daggers.
Throwing Knives: A number of small blades that are little more than sharp shards of metal. These are hidden upon his person and treated with care, designed to make bare-handed attempts at removal as painful and off-putting as possible.
Adamantite Knives: A pair of light and well-balanced blades that Sun’ra most often carries upon his person. Made of adamantite, there is nothing particularly noteworthy about the daggers versus any other pair of daggers aside from the fact that he seems personally attached to them. Signs of regular use is evident along the blade and hilt, though just the same it is obvious upon closer examination that they are well kept and privy to routine sharpening and maintenance.

Pyros Knives: A rare weapon set that Sun’ra generally only brings if he is expecting a particular brand of difficulty during his outings. How he has been able to acquire the knives; how he convinced Gerolt to make them for him, and why the man agreed, is not fully known. What is known is that they hold a powerful well of aether within them, though the exact usage of this aether is not fully understood. Thus far, the only additional ability he has been able to access is aether dampening. When used to defend against targeted aether enhanced abilities as well as certain spells, the blades have been noted to significantly lessen the power of the attack.

Karambit: Twin double edged blades with deep serrations on the spine and a balanced curve designed for fluid motion and easy application of leverage. Made from the same material as his Pyros Knives, Sun’ra’s karambit also hold aether within them. The hand carved hilt and safety ring ensure a secure grip at all times, even in wet, muddy, icy or other difficult conditions. Like the knives, they possess an aether-dampening ability. The karambit are his favorite weapon, and while normally not immediately visible, they are always present upon his person.

Southern Myth: A barbed, wooden short bow of foreign origin with intricate designs along the upper and lower limbs that seems to have a hidden, unspoken meaning to the bandit. Possesses an aura about it that is hard to pinpoint, unable to be sensed by others unless specifically held in hand by one so curious. The bow feels heavier than wood in the hands of another, and fired arrows hold a chance for additional effects outside of piercing damage when they strike their target.
Fogweed Joints: A smoked narcotic, Sun’ra grows and cultivates a number of Fogweed strains, bred with various other plants for additional effects, flavors, and intensities. He describes his supply as an alternative to Somnus; a number of his strains having been bred for a similar or identical effect, but without the added risk of death. Sun’ra is more often than not seen smoking these sticks, though they are rarely of his Somnus alternative variety. Sun’ra hand rolls each joint, making sure each is of the same weight. Regardless of the particular strain of Fogweed used, all joints are rolled into one of three colors: Green, Blue, and Red, which marks the contents as of Low intensity, Medium intensity, and High intensity respectfully. Sun’ra always has a few of each color hidden somewhere upon his person either to sell to individuals, share with friends, or offer as a sample to a potential long-term client.
*I rp fogweed and not moko grass as a substitution for marijuana.

Milkroot Tabs: A potent hallucinogen, Sun’ra sells Milkroot both as is, and also refined and fortified as his own hallucinogenic creation made through the use of Alchemy. He sells Pure Milkroot with the thick sap contained within a brown vial with a dropper, while Refined Milkroot is spread and soaked into small, thin, square, paper tabs. He also uses Refined Milkroot as a topcoat to dip and lace some of his Fogweed joints.

Sappy Taffy: Sap from the vines of an Ocean Roseling vines, made into a syrupy taffy that he soaks in his supply of Milkroot for an additional hallucinogenic effect. Sun’ra sells this potent aphrodisiac as a fun sexual stimulant to people looking to explore different and exotic sensations with their partner or partners.

Sãosūn: A synthetic drug, the incomplete recipe for which Sun'ra stole during a raid within Garlean controlled lands. Sãosūn is a stimulant and hallucinogen which produces an energizing effect, distortions in time and perception, and enhanced enjoyment from sensory experiences. It has also been noted to increase self-awareness and empathy. Sun'ra produces this substance as a tablet, often brightly colored and pressed with a simple design that acts both to entice those who might choose to partake, as well as to denote to Sun’ra the batch from which it originates.

Blackroot Rose: After having observed the effect of the plant’s consumption by some native wildlife, Sun’ra began to experiment with the potential use of the Blackroot Rose leaves in some of his own alchemical endeavors. Thus far he has successfully bred the plant with one of his strains of fogweed, creating a bud that can be smoked. Sun’ra does not market these at all as he does not yet consider it a final product. Instead, he tests its efficiency by selling it to unsuspecting persons to observe how they react from afar while continuing to look into different methods of administering.
Thank you for reading Sun’ra’s carrd profile! Here are just a few things about me that are pretty relevant for understanding in order for a successful roleplay experience with me!
I am a pretty friendly guy, and enjoy spending time talking with people. Thus, communication is super important and a requirement for plots lasting more than a single scene. We don’t have to become Best Friends Forever, but because Sun’ra is a villain, and because of the subject matter which might arise when it comes to RP with him, it is imperative that we speak explicitly about what you want and what you don’t want out of interaction with him.
I will RP just about anything sans dismemberment or death of Sun’ra. Anything else is a potential yes that can be talked about. I enjoy exploring dark and taboo subject matters, and the effects of those matters on the characters involved for better or for worse.
I am also okay with and open for writing out erp, whether it be something that develops with a plot(preferred), or just a random hook-up if the characters are to one another’s fancy. Please do not make such ic interactions weird ooc. With that said, I am also super okay with FTB, or simply head-cannoning some interactions that we never actually or fully roleplay out.
When it comes to fights, I prefer freeform. I am also okay with pre-deciding on an outcome and us just freeforming the middle to end up with that result. I do not care for /random, but will if I have to(i.e. An event, campaign, or multi-PC brawl)
I do have discord, but I would prefer for random introductions to either happen in game with a /tell, or to message me on Tumblr. You can also message me on Twitter. I do not actively post things on Twitter, but I do go on there to browse and like stuff daily, so do not take the silence as me not paying attention.
This carrd is a work in progress! Some areas more obviously so than others. So, please check back occasionally for updates! Also, feel free to ask me anything about the character that you would like more information on or are simply curious about.
Lastly! There is no pressure. If you don’t want to do something, say that. If you find things are going in a direction that is not fun for you, say that. If you have an idea for something, say it. RPing is a group activity, and it is important to me that my writing buddy is enjoying themselves just as I am. I like to learn of other people’s thoughts and ideas, and there are plenty of situations that I haven’t thought of that I’m sure I would like to test Sun’ra with. So, circling back to the first bullet point, communicate with me!
